Where tex and mex meet mesquite

seal

Bienvenidos, Y’all

In 1977, our family opened a little BBQ joint off Kirby Drive. Things went so nicely we decided to tap into our Mexican roots, open a cheerful taqueria across the street, and take the same approach to our Tex-Mex as we do with our barbeque: grill that good stuff over mesquite. Wrap it in hand-rolled tortillas, top with fresh-roasted salsa, and follow with some Damn Goode Margaritas.

Did You Know?

The Fajita Tradition

The fajita tradition was born back in the 1930s in the ranch lands of South and West Texas. During cattle roundups, the less expensive cuts from beef—like skirt steak—were given as payment to the Mexican vaqueros (cowboys), who cooked the meat directly on a campfire. With a slow, steady sizzle, their regional resourcefulness beget one of this city’s most beloved staples.

Goode Co. was the first in Houston to grill fajitas over mesquite.

Tacos Y Mas

While our tacos take the queso, it’s worth noting that you’ll also find mesquite-grilled burgers and mesquite-grilled fajitas at our sit-down taqueria—a nod to growing up with boots on both sides of the border. Our menu is inspired by the skills and stories of our grandmother, a quiet immigrant from Tampico, as well as campfire favorites from family days on the ranch, like quail and eggs and fresh chuckwagon-style coffee. Morning, noon and noche, there’s a little something for everyone.
