![]() Seth CandenDate: Feb 4 Time: 10:30 PM Event Price: $8 Seth started picking on the guitar early in high school, but at that time, it was just hobby to him. He was really inspired by the “Texas Country” scene, after attending a Fall Fandango concert at the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion, in The Woodlands, TX, with his older brother and his friends. After that, Seth was hooked and eventually found himself singing along and playing to artists he saw that day. He found himself writing songs and playing everyday, so he formed a band with some local classmates, and with just a few originals and a hand full of covers, they soon landed their first gig! They started out as a house band, opening for some big name bands every Sunday, at venue called Reno’s, in Webster, TX . After graduating high school, Seth moved up to College Station, and started doing some solo/acoustic acts at a few local bars, while attending school. By age 19, Seth released his first record, "Life", which consisted of 13 originals that he wrote between high school and leading into the end of his freshman year of college. Looking back, he sometimes feel he rushed the record, however, Seth looks at his writing on that record as a stepping stone, as if it tells a story about what he went through or who he was, at that time. So he stuck to his guns and took a chance being a Texas singer/songwriter and put school and everything else aside. A
lot has happened since then. In the Spring of 2010, Seth improved his
live shows by getting a permanent band out of College Station, TX. “I’m
so blessed that I found such talented musicians that have the same
drive and passion as I do. They are now some of my closest friends, and
I’m glad to share the stage with them.” Seth spent a lot of time in 2010
in Mike McClure’s basement recording his 2nd record, “The Aftermath”,
which was released October 26 and was produced by one of the Red Dirt
founders himself, Mike McClure. He feels it's a big change from the
“Life” album. “The Aftermath has a lot to do with how I've lived, and
experienced crazy and fun times away from home, in college, over the
past three years.” His voice has matured, and this new record has a lot
more groove. Many of his fans love his music because of its original mix
of southern rock, blues, and country. |

![]() Dolly ShineDate: Feb 11 Time: 10:30 PM Event Price: $6
Dolly Shine came together in Gonzales, Texas with a common strong passion for creating and performing music. Soon after forming in 2009, the group set out across the state to share their music with fans in every honky-tonk, bar, pub, tavern, or taproom that would listen. Dolly Shine quickly released their first EP in January of 2010, attracting many new fans. Over the past year, Dolly Shine has ke...pt busy performing in iconic and truly Texan venues from New Braunfels to Stephenville, where the band now calls home. Dolly Shine features the distinctive voice of Zack McGinn on lead vocals and rhythm guitar, Kevin Robinson playing lead guitar, Casey Stephen on bass, and Wes Hall on Fiddle and Lap Steel, and Aaron Hernandez keeping it all together on drums, percussion, keys, and vocals. Staying true to their roots, all five members are born and bred Texans from across the state, sharing different backgrounds and styles that collectively make up the sound that is Dolly Shine. Taking a cue from their influences, including Cross Canadian Ragweed, Cory Morrow, Sean McConnell, Band of Heathens, Bob Dylan, The Band, and Stevie Ray Vaughn, Dolly Shine has successfully created a uniquely familiar sound, borrowing and infusing elements from Red Dirt, Roots Rock, Outlaw, and Traditional Country music. Over the long year spent touring across Texas, Dolly Shine has had the opportunity to play with many notable artists. The group has played with established bands, other up-and-coming artists, and even the legendary Robert Earl Keen. Dolly Shine has shared stages with Micky & The Motorcars, Reckless Kelly, Brandon Rhyder, Rich O’Toole, Six Market Boulevard, Matt Wayne, Texas Renegade, Kyle Park, and many others. The guys recently entered the studio earlier this year to record their self-titled EP. The album features a compilation of tracks recounting the struggles and triumphs of the experiences that Dolly Shine has encountered, while looking toward the future in hopes of acting as inspiration for listeners. Dolly Shine fans can expect personal lyrics, rock-inspired guitar licks, and as always, high-energy live performances. Dolly Shine has attracted a loyal and loud fan-base that shows up night after night to sing and dance along with the boys. The spirit of Dolly Shine lies in the idea that we should never give up on what we want. It is through the love of writing each word, line, and rhythm that Dolly Shine connects through their music and out to their audience. With new music and the excitement that only the stage and screaming fans can provide, Dolly Shine is continuing to hit the road with their credo in mind, “Stay steady.”

![]() The Damn QuailsDate: Feb 18 Time: 10:30 PM Event Price: $8
Described as a young band with old souls, The Damn Quails are a combined
effort between singer/songwriters Gabriel Marshall and Bryon White,
proud saplings of Oklahoma’s opulent music vegetation. Understanding the
caliber of songwriters that are indigenous to this particular part of
the country is the only thing that makes a debut release this good seem
plausible.
Having been exposed to local storytellers like Tom Skinner, Mike McClure and Gene Collier, both Bryon and Gabriel sank their roots into songwriting early on and remained close to that art while earning their music chops on stage indulging in music styles that ran the spectrum. It’s a very lucky thing for anyone who considers himself a music aficionado that Bryon and Gabriel would emerge from the same stompin’ grounds and eventually come stool–to-stool in a highly respected ritual among writers known as the Song Swap. It was in this survival of the fittest setting where two songwriters, both equally fierce in measure, would set into motion a pairing that resonates a lifetime of compatibility despite its level of humble beginnings. Backed by the ‘Quail Philharmonic,” the live show spills off the stage with a pooled sound that makes veteran performers stand up and take notice, and on any given night the philharmonic fills to include some of their peers from other bands. After all, the jam is what it is really all about and Bryon admits that they have never performed a song the same way twice. The Damn Quails debut studio release appropriately titled DOWN THE HATCH will shell out in August 2011 on 598 Recordings. The threading together of their individual songs meant they had to find just the right producer who could bring two solid talents together as a team, and they found it in the veteran combo of Mike McClure and Joe Hardy. |

![]() Two Tons of SteelDate: Feb 23 Time: 10:30 PM Event Price: $8 If there's one thing Texans love, it's a good party. But if you ask self-respecting Lone Star carousers what turns a bash into a blast, they won't say beer or barbecue. They know it all comes down to the music. And there's one band that can rouse revelers like no other: Two Tons of Steel. Two Tons' rambunctious brand of country-rooted rock has been inspiring listeners in the great republic — and far beyond — for more than two decades, and with its 10th album, NOT THAT LUCKY, the band is ready to throw its weight around even more.NOT THAT LUCKY, which reached #4 on the Americana Music Charts in Sept/Oct 2009 is the band's first studio album since 2005's VEGAS (which ranked among the top 20 Americana albums for 2006) is its fourth helmed by Lloyd Maines, Texas' most in-demand producer (the Flatlanders, Dixie Chicks, Pat Green, James McMurtry). Explaining why he always clears his schedule for Two Tons of Steel, Maines simply declares, "They're one of the best bands in Texas." And beyond. Already familiar to fans of the Grand Ole Opry, where Two Tons has performed some eight times, and to visitors at Nashville's Country Music Hall of Fame, where it appears in a documentary about country music, Two Tons tours Europe regularly and in 1997, became the first U.S. act in 37 years to perform in the national theater of Havana, Cuba. It's so beloved in its home state that Two Tons of Steel is featured in the IMAX film, "Texas: The Big Picture," and is considered an institution at the state's oldest, most revered dance hall, Gruene Hall, where its annual Two Ton Tuesdays summer series has been selling out for 14 years (and can be witnessed via the 2006 CD/DVD release, TWO TON TUESDAY LIVE!).

![]() Jesse DaytonDate: Feb 24 Time: 10:30 PM Event Price: $10
Jesse Dayton just doesn't do it like everyone else. Raised on the Gulf Coast musical
gumbo that accepts everything from the classic heartbreak honky tonk of George Jones
to the honking classic rock of the Big Bopper to the blue-eyed soul of RnB outfits
like Cookie and the Cupcakes, Dayton's musical vision goes far beyond the boundaries
of what we usually consider "country music." In fact, his vision is so big and so
different from the restrictive notions of industry bigwigs and record companies
that after years of working within the system, Dayton has chucked the whole chase,
starting his own Stag Records label, producing his own records, going his own way.
His latest Stag recording is a great example of what freedom and independence have
done for Dayton the artist. Heavily influenced by '60s soul artists and soulful
country artists like George Jones, Conway Twitty, Charlie Rich, and Jerry Lee Lewis,
Country Soul Brother mines Dayton's blue-eyed soul side, yet everything is done
within Dayton's exciting and highly volatile turbo-country template, making for
an entirely unique album that stands out from the lumpy mass of albums known collectively
today as alternative country.
